QA/QC Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QA/QC Engineer to ensure that construction and project activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The role will be responsible for implementing quality assurance and quality control procedures, conducting inspections and testing, managing documentation, identifying non-conformities, and coordinating corrective actions to ensure consistent project quality.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement and maintain the project Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan (QA/QC Plan).
- Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and applicable standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of site activities, materials, workmanship, and completed works.
- Prepare and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and quality procedures.
- Review project specifications, drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
- Ensure only approved materials and products are used on site.
- Monitor construction activities and identify quality issues at an early stage.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients on quality-related matters.
Inspection & Testing
- Conduct inspections and coordinate testing of construction materials and completed works.
- Raise and follow up on Inspection Requests (IRs/WIRs) with consultants and clients.
- Coordinate laboratory and third-party testing as required.
- Review material test certificates, inspection reports, calibration certificates, and test results.
- Monitor concrete, reinforcement, structural, finishing, waterproofing, and other construction activities as applicable.
- Ensure testing and inspection records are complete and properly maintained.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Identify and document non-conforming work, materials, or processes.
- Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
- Follow up on NCR closure and verify that corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Investigate recurring quality problems and recommend preventive measures.
- Maintain records of quality observations, defects, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate QA/QC records, inspection reports, test results, and quality documentation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
- Maintain inspection logs, material approval records, NCR registers, and test registers.
- Assist in preparation and compilation of project quality dossiers and handover documents.
- Ensure proper document control and traceability of quality records.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
Coordination & Site Support
- Attend project quality meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project management.
- Provide technical guidance to site teams on quality requirements.
- Review subcontractor QA/QC documentation and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with procurement and engineering teams regarding material approvals and technical requirements.
- Assist in resolving technical and quality-related issues during project execution.
- Ensure lessons learned and quality improvements are communicated to relevant teams.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure quality activities are carried out in accordance with company HSE requirements.
- Support compliance with applicable construction codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Report unsafe or non-compliant practices observed during inspections.
- Participate in site audits, quality walks, and project inspections.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, depending on project requirements.
- 3–7 years of relevant QA/QC experience in construction, civil, infrastructure, industrial, or restoration projects.
- Strong knowledge of quality-control procedures and construction inspection practices.
- Experience with ITPs, MIRs, WIRs/IRs, NCRs, method statements, checklists, and quality documentation.
- Good knowledge of relevant international/local construction standards and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of AutoCAD and quality/document-control systems is an advantage.
- Relevant QA/QC certification is preferred.
