Project Engineer — Job Description
Job Summary
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical and engineering support throughout the planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of projects. The role coordinates engineering activities, reviews technical documents, monitors site or project progress, ensures compliance with specifications and standards, and supports the Project Manager in delivering projects safely, efficiently, and within the approved schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, designs, BOQs, and technical documents.
- Coordinate engineering activities from project planning through completion.
- Work closely with Project Managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and clients.
- Monitor project execution to ensure work complies with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, schedules, method statements, and other engineering documentation.
- Coordinate the submission, review, and approval of technical documents and drawings.
- Monitor project progress and identify technical issues, delays, and potential risks.
- Provide technical solutions to engineering and project-related problems.
- Conduct site inspections and coordinate with site teams where applicable.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and workmanship meet project specifications and approved standards.
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers regarding technical requirements, materials, and equipment.
- Assist in preparing project schedules, cost estimates, resource requirements, and progress reports.
- Monitor changes, variations, and technical queries and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
- Support testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, safety requirements, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate project records, drawings, reports, approvals, and technical documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical updates to management and stakeholders.
- Support project close-out, including as-built documentation, handover documents, and lessons learned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant Engineering discipline.
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in project engineering or engineering project execution.
- Experience in project planning, technical coordination, and site/project execution.
- Good knowledge of engineering standards, specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering/project management software.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera, or other relevant software is an advantage.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under project deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Professional engineering certification or relevant registration is an advantage.
