QA/QC Civil Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented QA/QC Civil Engineer to ensure that all civil construction, concrete, structural, and restoration activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable standards, and quality requirements. The role will be responsible for site inspections, material approvals, testing, quality documentation, NCR management, and coordination with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Civil QA/QC
- Implement and maintain the project Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan.
- Ensure civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and applicable standards.
- Conduct inspections of construction activities and verify workmanship and material compliance.
- Review approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and material submittals.
- Ensure only approved materials and construction methods are used on site.
- Monitor quality performance and identify potential defects before completion.
Site Inspection & Testing
- Conduct inspections for concrete, reinforcement, formwork, blockwork, plastering, waterproofing, excavation, backfilling, and other civil works.
- Raise and coordinate Inspection Requests (IRs/WIRs) with consultants and clients.
- Prepare and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and inspection procedures.
- Coordinate concrete testing, soil testing, compaction tests, cube tests, and other required laboratory/field tests.
- Review material test certificates, laboratory reports, calibration certificates, and inspection records.
- Verify that testing is carried out in accordance with project specifications and approved procedures.
Concrete & Structural Quality
- Inspect concrete placement, reinforcement, formwork, curing, and finishing.
- Monitor concrete repair, restoration, strengthening, and rehabilitation works where applicable.
- Verify surface preparation, reinforcement treatment, repair mortar, grouting, epoxy injection, waterproofing, and protective coating works.
- Ensure concrete and structural works comply with approved drawings and technical requirements.
- Identify defects such as cracking, honeycombing, spalling, poor finishing, and dimensional deviations.
Material Control
- Review material submittals and technical data sheets.
- Inspect incoming construction materials and verify compliance with approved specifications.
- Maintain records of material approvals, delivery inspections, test certificates, and material traceability.
- Coordinate with procurement and site teams regarding approved materials and technical requirements.
- Prevent the use of damaged, expired, or unapproved materials.
NCR & Corrective Action
- Identify and document non-conforming works or materials.
- Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate corrective actions.
- Investigate the root causes of recurring quality issues.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive actions until successful closure.
- Maintain NCR, observation, and corrective-action registers.
- Recommend measures to reduce rework and improve construction quality.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC reports.
- Maintain inspection requests, checklists, test reports, material approvals, NCRs, and quality records.
- Maintain proper photographic documentation of construction activities.
- Assist in preparing project quality dossiers and handover documentation.
- Ensure all quality records are properly organized and traceable.
- Participate in internal, client, consultant, and external quality audits.
Coordination
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, supervisors, consultants, clients, and subcontractors regarding quality requirements.
- Attend quality meetings and site coordination meetings.
- Provide technical guidance to construction teams on quality requirements.
- Review subcontractor QA/QC procedures and ensure compliance with project standards.
- Assist in resolving technical and quality-related issues on site.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure quality activities are conducted in accordance with project HSE procedures.
- Report unsafe or non-compliant working practices observed during inspections.
- Participate in site inspections, toolbox meetings, and quality/safety awareness programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable civil engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in QA/QC civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, concrete, or restoration projects.
- Strong experience in civil and concrete inspection and quality-control procedures.
- Good knowledge of ITPs, MIRs, WIRs/IRs, NCRs, method statements, checklists, and material submittals.
- Strong understanding of concrete, reinforcement, formwork, waterproofing, structural, and finishing works.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good knowledge of applicable construction codes and quality standards.
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD and QA/QC software experience is an advantage.
- Relevant QA/QC certifications are preferred.
