Planning Engineer
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to manage project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting. The Planning Engineer will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered according to approved schedules, milestones, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
- Prepare project baseline schedules, execution programs, recovery schedules, and short-term look-ahead plans.
- Establish activity sequences, durations, dependencies, milestones, and critical paths.
- Monitor project progress against the approved baseline and identify schedule deviations.
- Collect and verify progress data from engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and other project teams.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and management progress reports.
- Analyze delays, productivity, resource utilization, and schedule performance.
- Identify potential schedule risks and recommend appropriate mitigation and recovery measures.
- Monitor critical and near-critical activities and assess their impact on project completion dates.
- Track engineering deliverables, procurement activities, material deliveries, construction works, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure their schedules are aligned with the overall project program.
- Prepare manpower and resource plans and monitor actual resources against planned requirements.
- Develop progress curves, S-curves, histograms, dashboards, and other project-control reports.
- Assist in preparing forecasts for project completion and identify potential delays at an early stage.
- Support the preparation of delay analysis, extension-of-time claims, and associated schedule documentation when required.
- Participate in progress meetings and provide clear updates on project status, key issues, and required actions.
- Coordinate with commercial and project controls teams regarding variations, claims, productivity, and schedule impacts.
- Maintain accurate planning records, schedule revisions, progress documentation, and supporting data.
- Ensure planning and reporting activities comply with company procedures and contractual requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Planning Engineer in construction, EPC, infrastructure, industrial, or engineering projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with Primavera P6; knowledge of MS Project is an advantage.
- Good understanding of project scheduling, critical path methodology, progress measurement, and project controls.
- Strong knowledge of project execution and construction methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to develop project dashboards and reports.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict project reporting deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with resource-loaded schedules and earned value management.
- Knowledge of delay analysis and extension-of-time claims.
- Experience preparing recovery and acceleration schedules.
- Experience working with clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with project management and document-control systems.
- Professional certification in project management or project controls is an advantage.
