Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Safety Engineer to develop, implement, and oversee our comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management system. This role is strategic and involves planning, training, and ensuring full regulatory compliance to create a zero-harm culture across all project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the project HSE plan, policies, and procedures in line with company standards and Abu Dhabi EHSMS.
- Conduct risk assessments (JSA, HIRA) and develop mitigation strategies for all project activities.
- Lead incident investigations to determine root cause and implement effective corrective actions.
- Organize and conduct extensive HSE training programs, including induction, toolbox talks, and specialized training (e.g., working at heights, scaffolding safety).
- Manage and audit the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system.
- Liaise with client HSE representatives, regulatory authorities, and third-party auditors.
- Analyze HSE performance data and prepare detailed weekly and monthly HSE reports for management.
- Oversee the work of Safety Inspectors and provide technical guidance.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
- Stay updated on all new HSE legislation and best practices and ensure their integration into company procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial) or a related HSE field.
- Must possess NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent; NEBOSH Diploma is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE engineering role within the construction or heavy industry sector in the UAE.
- Certified OSHAD Practitioner or Lead Auditor is a significant advantage.
- Proven experience in developing HSE management systems and documentation.
- Excellent leadership, training, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and HSE management software.
