Hostess / Host
Job Summary:
The Host/Hostess is the first and last point of contact for our guests, responsible for creating a welcoming and positive first impression. This role is crucial for managing the flow of the service area, ensuring guests are seated promptly and comfortably, and contributing to a seamless and enjoyable dining experience from the moment guests arrive until they depart.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Greeting & Seating:
- Warmly and professionally greet all guests upon their arrival.
- Manage the reservation system, take note of walk-in guests, and accurately estimate waiting times.
- Escort guests to their assigned tables, present menus, and ensure they are comfortable.
- Manage the seating chart to ensure even distribution of guests among service staff for efficient service.
- Front Desk Management:
- Answer incoming phone calls, answer questions, and manage table reservations.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand, lobby, and menu stock.
- Bid farewell to guests, thank them for their visit, and invite them to return.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Effectively communicate with servers and management regarding table status, special guest requests, and potential delays.
- Inform waiting guests of the status of their table and ensure they are kept informed.
- Assist in managing the waiting list during peak hours.
- Customer Service:
- Handle guest inquiries and provide accurate information about the restaurant, menu, and specials.
- Address minor guest complaints or concerns promptly and escalate serious issues to a manager.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Host/Hostess in a fast-paced, high-quality restaurant or cafe.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Professional and well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with reservation software (e.g., OpenTable, Resy) is a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
