General Practitioner – Dermatology
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Reporting To: Medical Director / Lead Dermatologist
Department: Dermatology / Outpatient Specialist Clinic
Job Purpose:
To provide specialized diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with skin, hair, and nail disorders. This role focuses on managing a wide spectrum of dermatological conditions, performing in-office procedures, and contributing to skin health education within the Abu Dhabi community.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct specialized consultations for dermatological concerns (e.g., acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, hair loss, pigmentary disorders, skin cancers).
- Perform comprehensive skin examinations, including dermoscopic evaluation.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic dermatological diseases.
- Perform in-office dermatological procedures such as:
- Cryotherapy.
- Electrosurgery and cauterization.
- Intralesional injections.
- Incision and drainage of abscesses.
- Skin biopsies (punch, shave, excisional).
- Basic excision of benign skin lesions.
- Develop and administer treatment plans involving topical therapies, systemic medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Prescribe medications, including retinoids, immunosuppressants, and biologics, with diligent monitoring.
- Maintain detailed and precise clinical records and photographic documentation where required.
- Assess and provide pre- & post-procedure care.
Procedural & Diagnostic Focus:
- Operate and interpret findings from diagnostic tools like dermatoscopes.
- Prepare and interpret samples for histopathology (KOH mounts, etc.).
- Manage wound care and post-operative follow-up for minor surgeries.
- Provide treatment for cosmetic concerns (e.g., benign lesions, superficial chemical peels) as per scope and facility authorization.
Patient Education & Coordination:
- Educate patients on skin cancer prevention, sun protection, and daily skin care routines.
- Counsel patients on the chronic nature of certain conditions and long-term management strategies.
- Coordinate care with plastic surgeons, oncologists, rheumatologists, and other specialists for complex cases.
- Provide clear instructions on medication use (especially topical agents) and procedure aftercare.
Administrative & Regulatory Compliance:
- Adhere to all facility policies and stringent Abu Dhabi DoH regulations governing dermatology practice and procedures.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and dermatology-specific quality measures.
- Maintain valid Abu Dhabi DoH license with dermatology privileges and all relevant certifications.
- Ensure compliance with sterile techniques, clinical waste management, and patient safety protocols.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Medical Degree: MBBS or equivalent.
- Specialization: Primary specialization in Dermatology is mandatory. This should be evidenced by a post-graduate diploma/master's degree or board certification in Dermatology (e.g., Arab Board, American Board of Dermatology, MRCP (UK) in Derm, etc.).
- Licensure: Valid and current Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi license with Dermatology as the primary specialty or eligibility letter is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of focused clinical experience in dermatology post-specialization. Experience performing the listed procedures is essential. UAE/GCC experience preferred.
- Skills: Expertise in clinical dermatology and minor surgical procedures. Proficiency in dermoscopy. Meticulous attention to detail. Excellent patient rapport skills. Fluency in English. Arabic is a strong advantage.
