Job Summary:
The QC Inspector - Coating will specialize in inspecting surface preparation and application of protective coatings, paints, linings, and fireproofing materials on structural steel, piping, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect surface preparation (blasting/grinding) to achieve specified cleanliness (Sa 2.5, Sa 3) and profile.
- Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) prior to and during coating application.
- Conduct wet and dry film thickness (WFT/DFT) checks using appropriate gauges.
- Perform adhesion tests (cross-cut, pull-off) and holiday detection for linings.
- Inspect for coating defects like runs, sags, pinholes, and contamination.
- Maintain detailed logs of inspected areas, batch numbers, and test results.
- Ensure all coating activities comply with project specifications (e.g., NACE, SSPC, manufacturer’s guidelines).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma in Engineering or Chemistry, or relevant trade background.
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Coating Inspector in the Oil & Gas or heavy industrial sector.
- Mandatory Certification: NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 or equivalent (FROSIO). KOC approval is required.
- In-depth knowledge of coating materials, application methods, and inspection techniques.
