Steel Fixer (Reinforcement Worker)
Overview:
We are seeking experienced and skilled Steel Fixers to join our dynamic construction team in Malta. You will be responsible for assembling and installing steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh used to strengthen concrete structures, ensuring they meet precise engineering specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, bar bending schedules, and technical plans.
- Measure, cut, bend, and fix steel reinforcement bars (rebar) using hand tools, power tools, and specialist equipment.
- Assemble and securely tie rebar cages, columns, beams, slabs, and foundations.
- Install spacer blocks, chairs, and supports to maintain correct rebar positioning within formwork.
- Work collaboratively with carpenters, concreters, and site supervisors to ensure project milestones are met.
- Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols (PPE, hazard awareness, manual handling) to maintain a zero-accident environment.
- Perform quality checks on your own work to ensure alignment, spacing, and stability before concrete pouring.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a Steel Fixer on commercial or large-scale residential projects.
- In-depth knowledge of rebar types, grades, bending techniques, and fixing methods.
- Ability to work accurately, efficiently, and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good physical fitness and stamina for manual labour.
- A strong understanding and ability to communicate in English is mandatory for site safety and team coordination.
