Shuttering Carpenter (Formwork Carpenter)
Overview:
We are looking for proficient Shuttering Carpenters to construct, erect, and dismantle the temporary moulds (formwork) into which concrete is poured. Your precision and skill are critical in shaping the final concrete structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct and assemble wooden and metal formwork for walls, columns, beams, slabs, and complex concrete structures.
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings to build formwork to exact dimensions, levels, and alignments.
- Install bracing, ties, and supports to ensure formwork is rigid and can withstand the pressure of wet concrete.
- Check formwork for accuracy, strength, and leaks prior to concrete pours.
- Safely strip (dismantle) formwork after concrete has cured, ensuring no damage to the structure.
- Clean, maintain, and repair formwork materials for reuse.
- Coordinate with steel fixers, crane operators, and site managers.
- Comply rigorously with all site health and safety regulations.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a Shuttering Carpenter/Formworker.
- Expert knowledge of formwork systems (traditional timber, modular metal, table forms, etc.).
- Proficiency in using carpentry tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Keen eye for detail, precision, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- A strong understanding and ability to communicate in English is mandatory for understanding instructions and ensuring site safety.
