Virtualization Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Virtualization Specialist to design, implement, and manage our virtualized infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in virtualization platforms, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability of virtual environments supporting critical business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain virtualization solutions using VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix AHV.
- Manage and optimize virtual machines (VMs), templates, clones, and snapshots.
- Configure and maintain high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and backup strategies for virtual environments.
- Monitor performance, capacity, and health of virtual infrastructure; proactively address issues.
- Implement security best practices for virtualization, including network segmentation and access controls.
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other scripting tools.
- Collaborate with storage, network, and cloud teams to integrate virtualized systems.
- Document architecture, procedures, and configurations.
- Provide Tier 3 support for virtualization-related incidents and problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in virtualization administration.
- Professional certification (e.g., VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of storage (SAN/NAS), networking (vSwitches, VLANs), and server hardware.
- Experience with cloud virtualization (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
