Linux Email Backup Administrator
Position Overview:
The Linux Email Backup Administrator focuses on managing, securing, and ensuring the recoverability of email data across Linux-based email platforms. This role involves designing backup strategies, performing recovery operations, and maintaining compliance with data retention policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage backup solutions for Linux-based email servers (e.g., Postfix, Dovecot, Zimbra) and cloud email systems.
- Schedule, monitor, and validate email backups to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Perform restores of individual mailboxes, folders, or messages as requested.
- Troubleshoot backup failures and optimize performance of backup processes.
- Maintain documentation of backup procedures, recovery steps, and retention schedules.
- Collaborate with email and Linux administration teams to align backup strategies with service requirements.
- Ensure backup systems comply with security policies and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Test and update disaster recovery plans for email services.
- Automate routine backup tasks and reporting using shell scripting or automation tools.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience administering Linux servers (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Proven experience with enterprise backup software (Veeam, Commvault, Bacula, etc.).
- Familiarity with email server architectures and protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3).
- Knowledge of scripting (Bash, Python) for automation.
- Understanding of data privacy and retention regulations.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
