Position: Mechanic – Heavy Vehicles
Department: Workshop / Service & Repair
Reports To: Workshop Foreman / Master Technician
Salary Range: AED 2,500 – AED 3,000 per month
Job Purpose:
To provide expert mechanical repair and maintenance for heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring they are restored to optimal operating condition. This role demands deep technical knowledge, the ability to handle complex repairs, and work efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, overhaul, repair, and maintain heavy-duty engines (diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), drivelines, differentials, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform major repairs including engine rebuilds, cylinder head work, turbocharger replacement, and brake system overhauls (air and hydraulic).
- Conduct thorough inspections and advanced troubleshooting of complex mechanical faults.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) services and safety inspections to regulatory standards.
- Use diagnostic tools and follow technical service bulletins to accurately identify issues.
- Work under pressure to meet critical deadlines and minimize vehicle downtime for clients.
- Complete detailed and accurate documentation of work performed, findings, and parts used.
- Mentor and guide junior mechanics or apprentices when required.
- Adhere strictly to all workshop safety policies and procedures, especially when working with heavy components and equipment.
- Stay updated with the latest technology and repair techniques for heavy vehicles.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential: Minimum 4–6 years of solid, hands-on experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
- Expertise: Proven expertise in heavy-duty engines, braking systems, suspension, and powertrains. Home country experience will be accepted.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical and troubleshooting skills are mandatory. Must be proficient with heavy vehicle workshop tools and equipment.
- Resilience: Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a workshop environment.
- Certifications: A formal technical qualification or apprenticeship in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics is highly desirable.
