General Requirements for All Positions
A valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license or DHA eligibility letter is mandatory for all medical/nursing roles.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the relevant field is required.
ECG Technician (Electrocardiogram Technician)
Core Function: To operate electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) equipment to record the electrical activity of a patient's heart, producing tracings for physician interpretation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Explains the non-invasive procedure to patients to alleviate anxiety.
- Correctly places electrodes on the patient's chest, arms, and legs.
- Operates the ECG machine to obtain clear and accurate readings of the heart's electrical impulses (standard 12-lead ECGs).
- Monitors the recording for any immediate abnormalities or technical issues.
- May perform stress tests, attaching the patient to an ECG monitor while they exercise on a treadmill or stationary bike.
- Assists with Holter monitor applications, where the patient wears a portable ECG device for 24-48 hours.
- Edits and prepares finalized reports for cardiologists or physicians.
Work Environment: Hospitals, cardiology offices, diagnostic imaging centers, and outpatient clinics. Frequent patient interaction is a key component.
Typical Requirements: A postsecondary certificate from an ECG technician program. On-the-job training is common. Certification (e.g., from Cardiovascular Credentialing International) can enhance job prospects.
