Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Commis 1 – Pastry to join our kitchen brigade. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in pastry arts, a keen eye for detail, and a genuine passion for creating delectable desserts. You will work closely with the Pastry Chef to prepare, decorate, and present a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation & Production: Prepare and produce a wide range of high-quality pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and baked items according to recipes and standards set by the Pastry Chef.
- Mise en Place: Ensure all necessary ingredients and equipment are prepared and organized for each shift.
- Quality Control: Assist in checking the quality of raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet the hotel’s high standards.
- Plating & Presentation: Support the team in plating and presenting desserts for the restaurant, room service, and banquet events with precision and artistry.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with HACCP and Dubai Municipality health and safety regulations.
- Inventory: Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating pastry supplies to minimize waste (FIFO).
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the pastry team and other kitchen departments to ensure smooth service.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Commis Pastry or similar role in a reputable hotel, high-end restaurant, or patisserie.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts/Hotel Management with a specialization in Pastry.
- Skills: Solid knowledge of baking techniques, doughs, creams, mousses, and chocolate work.
- Creativity: A passion for creativity and an eye for intricate design and detail.
- Professionalism: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle pressure, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Language: Good communication skills in English (knowledge of additional languages is a plus).
- Location: Must be based in Dubai or willing to relocate.
