Job Description: Draftsman (Drafter)
Overview:
A Draftsman (or Drafter) is a technical professional who creates detailed drawings and plans used in construction, manufacturing, and engineering projects. They convert design concepts from engineers and architects into precise technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D/3D drawings using CAD software
- Interpret sketches, specifications, and design data
- Create layouts, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings
- Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers/architects
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards and regulations
- Maintain drawing records and documentation
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure accuracy
- Assist in site measurements and drawing updates (if required)
Skills Required
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.)
- Strong technical drawing and visualization skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of engineering or architectural principles
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Educational Requirements
- Diploma/ITI in Drafting, Civil, Mechanical, or related field
- Certification in CAD software is an advantage
Work Experience
- Entry-level roles available for freshers
- 1–5+ years experience preferred for specialized drafting roles
