A Draftsman (or Drafter) prepares detailed technical drawings and plans used by engineers, architects, and construction teams. They translate concepts, designs, and specifications into precise visual representations for manufacturing or construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
- Convert sketches, layouts, and specifications into technical drawings
- Revise drawings based on feedback from engineers or architects
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Maintain drawing records, revisions, and documentation
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and site teams
- Prepare layout plans, sections, elevations, and schematics
- Assist in quantity take-offs and basic design calculations (in some roles)
Required Skills
