Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to oversee the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire fighting, fire alarm, and safety systems. The ideal candidate will ensure that all fire protection and life safety equipment operates effectively and complies with applicable safety regulations, standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire fighting, fire alarm, and safety systems.
- Inspect, test, and maintain fire pumps, sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels, fire extinguishers, and suppression systems.
- Monitor and maintain fire alarm control panels, detectors, emergency lighting, and evacuation systems.
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs to ensure system reliability and operational readiness.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing in accordance with applicable safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities for inspections and system upgrades.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and fire system alarms.
- Ensure compliance with local fire codes, health and safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Support fire drills, emergency preparedness activities, and safety audits.
- Recommend system improvements and upgrades to enhance safety and performance.
- Train staff on basic fire safety procedures and equipment awareness when required.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Fire & Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in maintenance of fire fighting, fire alarm, and safety systems.
- Knowledge of fire protection systems, alarm systems, and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with applicable fire safety codes and standards.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and system layouts.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in fire protection, fire alarm systems, or occupational safety.
- Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and building management systems (BMS).
- Understanding of risk assessment and safety compliance procedures.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance tasks.
Working Conditions
- Industrial, commercial, residential, or facility management environments.
- May require on-call support and emergency response outside normal working hours.
- Involves site inspections, equipment testing, and occasional work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Requires adherence to safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
