Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated MEP Estimation Engineer to prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects. The successful candidate will analyze project drawings and specifications, perform quantity take-offs, obtain supplier quotations, and develop competitive cost proposals while ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Estimation & Costing
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Estimate costs for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, budgets, and pricing schedules.
- Analyze project scope and identify potential cost risks and opportunities.
- Develop tender cost summaries and commercial proposals.
Tendering & Procurement Support
- Prepare technical and commercial tender submissions.
- Obtain, evaluate, and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for material pricing and availability.
- Clarify technical and commercial requirements with clients and consultants.
- Participate in bid reviews and tender negotiations.
- Maintain updated databases of material costs, labor rates, and vendor information.
Technical Coordination
- Interpret HVAC, electrical, fire protection, ELV, and plumbing drawings.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, and project teams to verify project requirements.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Assist in value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
- Support project teams with variation orders, change requests, and cost impact assessments.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare BOQs, quantity take-off sheets, estimate reports, and bid documentation.
- Maintain records of estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Generate cost comparison analyses and management reports.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company standards and client requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in MEP estimation, tendering, quantity surveying, or project costing.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.
- Proficiency in cost estimation and quantity take-off methodologies.
