Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Steel Structure Design Engineer & Estimator to design structural steel systems and prepare accurate cost estimates for industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The role involves structural analysis, connection design, material take-offs, estimation, tender preparation, and coordination with clients, consultants, and project teams to ensure cost-effective and compliant steel structure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Design steel structures in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Perform structural analysis and calculations for buildings, warehouses, industrial sheds, platforms, pipe racks, towers, and other steel structures.
- Prepare design reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Develop structural framing layouts, fabrication drawings, and erection drawings.
- Design steel connections including bolted and welded connections.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings for design coordination.
- Ensure designs comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, architects, and project teams.
Estimation & Tendering
- Review project specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and material take-offs (MTO).
- Estimate costs for structural steel, fabrication, erection, painting, transportation, and subcontracted works.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and bid proposals.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Participate in tender preparation and submission processes.
- Analyze project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support contract negotiations and project budgeting.
Project Support
- Provide technical support during fabrication and site erection.
- Review shop drawings and fabrication details.
- Assist project teams with design modifications and value engineering.
- Monitor material consumption and project cost performance.
- Prepare variation orders and additional work estimates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience in structural steel design and estimation.
- Strong understanding of steel design codes and standards.
- Ability to interpret structural and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of fabrication and erection processes.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
