Job Summary
The Glass Cleaning Supervisor (High-Level Access) is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing exterior and interior glass cleaning operations on high-rise buildings and structures. The role ensures that all work-at-height activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations. The supervisor leads cleaning teams, oversees access equipment operations, and maintains high standards of service quality.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Supervise and coordinate high-level glass cleaning activities for commercial, residential, and industrial properties.
- Plan daily work schedules, manpower allocation, and equipment requirements.
- Ensure cleaning tasks are completed according to project specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor work progress and address operational issues promptly.
- Conduct final inspections to ensure satisfactory completion of work.
Work-at-Height Supervision
- Oversee the safe use of suspended access systems, building maintenance units (BMUs), rope access systems, cradles, gondolas, and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs).
- Ensure all personnel comply with work-at-height procedures and safety requirements.
- Verify that anchor points, lifelines, harnesses, and fall protection systems are properly inspected and used.
- Conduct site-specific risk assessments and toolbox talks before work begins.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Monitor adherence to permit-to-work systems and emergency response procedures.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all team members possess valid certifications and training for high-level access work.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and supervise glass cleaning technicians and rope access personnel.
- Provide on-site training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and work quality.
- Promote a positive safety culture and professional work environment.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Ensure all cleaning equipment, ropes, harnesses, cradles, BMUs, and access systems are inspected and maintained.
- Coordinate equipment servicing, repairs, and certifications.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning materials, consumables, and safety equipment.
- Report equipment defects and arrange corrective actions as necessary.
Client Relations
- Liaise with clients, property managers, and site representatives regarding work schedules and operational requirements.
- Address client concerns and service requests professionally.
- Prepare progress reports and completion documentation as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical qualifications are advantageous.
- Certification in Work at Height and Fall Protection.
- Rope Access certification (e.g., Level 1, 2, or 3) preferred.
- MEWP/Boom Lift Operator certification is an advantage.
- First Aid and Emergency Rescue training preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-rise glass cleaning, façade maintenance, or rope access operations.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in work-at-height environments.
- Experience with suspended access systems, BMUs, cradles, and rope access techniques.
- Experience managing teams on commercial high-rise buildings is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of high-rise glass cleaning methods and façade maintenance.
- Understanding of work-at-height regulations, risk assessments, and rescue procedures.
- Ability to inspect and assess access equipment and fall protection systems.
- Proficiency in preparing safety documentation and operational reports.
