Electrical Engineer
Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment for construction, industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects. The role ensures electrical installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, safety standards, and client requirements while supporting project delivery from design through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and control systems.
- Prepare electrical calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and material schedules.
- Review electrical designs, shop drawings, and technical submittals for compliance with project requirements.
- Supervise electrical installation and construction activities on site.
- Conduct inspections to ensure work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and architectural teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design and installation issues.
- Monitor project progress, schedules, and budgets related to electrical works.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), testing, commissioning, and system handover.
- Prepare technical reports, as-built drawings, and project documentation.
- Support preventive maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent registration (preferred, where applicable).
- 2–10+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering or construction projects.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, utility, or infrastructure projects is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and power systems.
- Proficiency in engineering and drafting software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with project management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE, or local regulations).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Understanding of quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
Working Conditions
- Combination of office-based engineering work and on-site supervision.
- May require travel to project sites or client locations.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours during commissioning, shutdowns, or project milestones.
