Electrical Site Inspector
Job Summary
The Electrical Site Inspector is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and verifying electrical installation works on construction sites to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, and applicable electrical codes. The role covers power distribution, lighting systems, earthing, cabling, low current systems, and electrical equipment installation, ensuring quality, safety, and project requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect electrical installation works including power distribution systems, wiring, cable trays, conduits, lighting, grounding/earthing, and panel installations.
- Ensure all electrical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Verify installation and connection of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators, MCCs, DBs, and control panels.
- Conduct routine site inspections and quality checks on electrical materials and workmanship.
- Witness testing and commissioning activities such as insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, earthing tests, and functional testing.
- Review and ensure compliance with method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and approved procedures.
- Identify, report, and track non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain detailed inspection reports, daily site logs, and photographic records.
- Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, consultants, and other disciplines.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements on site.
- Assist in verifying completed work quantities for measurement and payment purposes.
- Support review of shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support in resolving electrical installation issues on site.
- Participate in site meetings and report on electrical work progress and quality status.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3–8+ years of experience in electrical site inspection or construction supervision.
- Experience in building services, infrastructure, or MEP projects.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Familiarity with QA/QC inspection procedures and testing methods.
- Knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning procedures.
- Understanding of electrical codes and standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, or local regulations).
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Good communication and reporting abilities.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office and reporting tools).
Working Conditions
- Full-time site-based role in active construction environments.
- Exposure to electrical installation areas, both indoor and outdoor.
- May require extended working hours based on project needs.
- Frequent movement across construction and installation zones.
