Job Summary
The Resident Engineer oversees day-to-day site operations, coordinates with contractors, consultants, and clients, and ensures that construction work complies with project specifications, applicable codes, and contractual requirements. The role involves technical supervision, quality control, progress monitoring, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor daily construction activities on site.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Review and approve contractor work methods, materials, and shop drawings where applicable.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality and compliance.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential delays or risks.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
- Resolve technical issues and provide engineering guidance during construction.
- Verify measurements, quantities, and completed work for payment certifications.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical updates.
- Review requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Support project commissioning, testing, and handover activities.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional engineering registration or certification (preferred, depending on local regulations).
- 5–10+ years of relevant construction or engineering experience.
- Experience supervising infrastructure, building, industrial, or utility projects.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering codes and construction standards.
