Job Description: Project Manager (Construction)
Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing construction projects from initiation through completion. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while managing project teams, subcontractors, consultants, clients, and other stakeholders. The Project Manager oversees all aspects of project execution, including planning, procurement, scheduling, cost control, risk management, contract administration, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage construction projects in accordance with approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, resource plans, and project execution strategies.
- Lead and coordinate project teams, including site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved within agreed timelines.
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow, and expenditure to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Coordinate procurement activities to ensure timely availability of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, contracts, and applicable building codes and regulations.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor construction quality and ensure work complies with company standards and client requirements.
- Oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across all project activities.
- Review and approve project documentation, including method statements, work schedules, progress reports, and payment applications.
- Manage contract administration, including change orders, variations, claims, and extensions of time (EOT).
- Conduct regular project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and present project status reports, financial updates, and performance metrics to senior management.
- Resolve project issues, conflicts, and technical challenges promptly to minimize delays.
- Ensure timely project handover, close-out documentation, and completion of final accounts.
- Foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Mentor and develop project team members while promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is preferred.
- 8–12 years of project management experience in construction, fit-out, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, project planning, contract administration, and cost management.
- Experience managing large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, or mixed-use construction projects.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
