Job Title: Truck Welder
Job Summary
A Truck Welder is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying truck bodies, trailers, chassis, and related metal components using various welding techniques. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, ensuring structural integrity, and performing repairs in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicle components.
- Repair damaged truck bodies, chassis, frames, and metal structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Operate welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and arc welders safely and efficiently.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal parts according to specifications.
- Inspect welded joints to ensure strength, quality, and compliance with standards.
- Replace or reinforce worn or damaged metal components.
- Use grinders, torches, drills, and other fabrication tools as required.
- Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used.
- Collaborate with mechanics and other workshop personnel to complete repair and fabrication projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training or certification in welding or metal fabrication preferred.
- Proven experience in truck, trailer, or heavy equipment welding.
- Valid welding certification (where required) is an advantage.
Skills
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques.
- Ability to read technical drawings and fabrication plans.
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and repair methods.
- Skilled in using welding, cutting, and fabrication equipment.

Working Conditions
