Job Summary
The Demi Chef de Partie – Pastry is responsible for assisting the Pastry Chef in preparing high-quality desserts, pastries, and bakery products while maintaining excellent standards of taste, presentation, and consistency. The role requires strong technical pastry skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Pastry Chef in daily pastry kitchen operations.
- Prepare and produce a variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and plated desserts according to recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistent quality, taste, texture, and presentation of all pastry items.
- Follow proper preparation methods and maintain recipe standards.
- Support the development of new pastry creations and seasonal menu items.
- Manage assigned pastry section during service operations.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately according to recipes.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of pastry ingredients and products.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene standards in the pastry kitchen.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control.
- Minimize food waste through proper preparation and storage practices.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
- Assist in training and guiding Commis Pastry team members when required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, or a related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of pastry kitchen experience in hotels, fine dining restaurants, or luxury hospitality.
- Previous experience as a Demi Chef de Partie, Chef de Partie, or similar pastry role.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert preparation.
- Experience working with professional pastry equipment.
