Job Summary
The Resident Engineer is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site engineering activities to ensure construction works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and project schedules. The role serves as the primary technical representative on-site, coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure the successful delivery of projects while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Act as the primary technical representative between the client, consultant, contractor, and project stakeholders.
- Review engineering drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with design, construction, procurement, and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
- Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed according to approved schedules.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship, quality, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Review and approve inspection requests, work progress reports, and contractor submissions.
- Identify construction challenges and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and adherence to project requirements.
- Verify quantities, measurements, and completed work for progress payments and contract administration.
- Coordinate site meetings and prepare meeting minutes, technical reports, and progress updates.
- Ensure timely resolution of Requests for Information (RFIs), Technical Queries (TQs), and site instructions.
- Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Assist in risk management, change order evaluation, and claims review when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer registration or equivalent certification is preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in construction supervision, project engineering, or resident engineering.
- Experience in infrastructure, commercial, industrial, residential, or oil and gas projects is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and project management practices.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with international standards, local building codes, and construction regulations.
- Experience with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures.
- Knowledge of testing and commissioning processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
- Understanding of contract administration and project documentation.

Working Conditions
