Job Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, engineering, review, and execution of mechanical systems for industrial, commercial, infrastructure, or EPC projects. The role involves providing technical leadership, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project specifications, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting project execution from concept through commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of mechanical systems in accordance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, material submittals, and technical documents.
- Prepare and review mechanical design deliverables, including equipment layouts, piping systems, HVAC systems, and utility services, as applicable.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and support during procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Review vendor drawings, technical bids, equipment data sheets, and material specifications.
- Conduct engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and technical evaluations.
- Resolve technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions during project execution.
- Monitor project progress and ensure engineering deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards, local regulations, and company engineering procedures.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, constructability reviews, and client meetings where applicable.
- Support quality assurance, quality control, and inspection activities related to mechanical systems.
- Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and project progress updates.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the mechanical engineering team.
- Support project commissioning, performance testing, and final project handover.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent professional registration is preferred.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering within EPC, oil and gas, petrochemical, power, infrastructure, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
- Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and design practices.
- Experience with rotating and static equipment, piping systems, valves, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
- Knowledge of HVAC, fire protection, utility systems, and industrial mechanical installations, where applicable.
- Familiarity with ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, NFPA, ANSI, and other relevant international standards.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D, CAESAR II, ANSYS, or similar tools.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, stress analysis, and technical evaluations.
- Strong understanding of material selection, fabrication, installation, and commissioning processes.
- Knowledge of quality assurance (QA/QC), risk assessment, and engineering documentation.

- Familiarity with HAZOP, risk assessments, and value engineering.
- Experience with digital engineering tools, Building Information Modeling (BIM), or 3D plant design software.

Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with regular visits to project sites, fabrication facilities, or vendor locations as required.

- Occasional travel and extended working hours may be required to support project deadlines.
