Job Summary
The Senior Landscape Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, design review, execution, and supervision of landscape works for construction, infrastructure, residential, commercial, hospitality, and urban development projects. The role involves managing landscape engineering activities, coordinating with architects, consultants, contractors, and project teams, and ensuring landscape works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, sustainability requirements, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee landscape engineering activities from design development through construction and handover.
- Review landscape drawings, specifications, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
- Supervise and coordinate landscape installation works including:
- Softscape works (planting, turfing, soil preparation, irrigation)
- Hardscape works (paving, pathways, stonework, outdoor structures)
- Irrigation systems and water features
- Landscape lighting coordination
- Outdoor furniture and site amenities
- Ensure landscape works comply with approved designs, project specifications, contract requirements, and local regulations.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Review contractor submissions, method statements, material approvals, and construction schedules.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor quality, workmanship, and progress of landscape activities.
- Ensure proper implementation of planting specifications, soil conditions, drainage requirements, and irrigation systems.
- Monitor plant selection, nursery approvals, delivery, installation, and maintenance requirements.
- Provide technical solutions for landscape-related issues during project execution.
- Review and approve inspection requests, work completion reports, and quality documentation.
- Manage landscape testing and commissioning activities, including irrigation system testing and water feature commissioning.
- Prepare technical reports, progress reports, and project updates.
- Support quantity verification, variation evaluations, and cost control activities.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements during landscape construction activities.
- Assist in project handover, defect inspections, and maintenance period activities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior landscape engineers and site teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Engineering, Horticulture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–15 years of experience in landscape design, construction supervision, or project management.
- Experience with large-scale landscaping projects including residential developments, hotels, parks, commercial developments, and infrastructure projects.
- Professional certification or membership in relevant landscape or engineering organizations is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of landscape design principles, construction methods, and horticultural practices.
- Experience with softscape, hardscape, irrigation, drainage, and outdoor works.
- Ability to interpret landscape drawings, specifications, and technical details.
- Knowledge of plant materials, soil requirements, irrigation design, and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with landscape standards, sustainability requirements, and environmental considerations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, BIM tools, and landscape design software is preferred.
- Knowledge of project documentation, QA/QC procedures, and inspection processes.
- Ability to review quantities, BOQs, and technical submissions.
- Familiarity with contract administration, variations, and project reporting.
