A Storekeeper (Construction) is responsible for managing, receiving, storing, and issuing materials, tools, and equipment required for construction activities while maintaining accurate inventory records.
Job Description – Storekeeper (Construction Field)
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Verify quantities and specifications against purchase orders and delivery documents.
- Properly store materials to prevent damage, loss, or deterioration.
- Issue materials, tools, and equipment to site teams based on approved requests.
- Maintain accurate stock records and inventory databases.
- Monitor stock levels and inform management about material shortages or required purchases.
- Conduct regular stock checks and prepare inventory reports.
- Maintain proper documentation for material receipts, issues, and returns.
- Organize the store area and ensure good housekeeping practices.
- Track tools and equipment issued to workers and ensure timely returns.
- Coordinate with procurement, site engineers, and project teams regarding material requirements.
- Follow safety procedures for storage and handling of materials.
Qualifications
- Diploma or relevant qualification in stores, logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
- Typically 2–5 years of experience as a Storekeeper in construction projects.
- Experience with construction materials, tools, and equipment is preferred.
- UAE/GCC construction experience is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of construction materials and inventory control.
- Good record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, inventory software).
- Ability to manage stock and maintain organized storage areas.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project requirements.
