Job Summary
The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for piling, shoring, ground improvement, and deep foundation projects. The role involves reviewing tender documents, analyzing project requirements, preparing quantity take-offs, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, and coordinating with engineering, procurement, and project teams to ensure competitive and technically compliant bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
- Prepare quantity take-offs for piling, retaining structures, ground improvement, and foundation works.
- Develop detailed cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
- Request, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare comprehensive tender submissions, including technical and commercial proposals.
- Analyze project risks, constraints, and opportunities during the bidding stage.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and project execution teams for technical clarifications.
- Conduct site visits when required to assess project conditions.
- Maintain and update estimating databases, productivity rates, and cost benchmarks.
- Participate in tender review meetings and client clarification meetings.
- Prepare value engineering proposals to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and safety.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company procedures, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Support contract handover to the project execution team after successful award.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3–8 years of experience in estimating for piling, deep foundations, geotechnical, or ground engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of piling methods such as bored piles, CFA piles, driven piles, sheet piling, diaphragm walls, micropiles, and soil improvement techniques.
- Ability to interpret structural drawings, foundation layouts, and geotechnical investigation reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and estimating software.
- Knowledge of construction methods, project planning, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with international standards and specifications for foundation works.
