Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor – Pre-Tendering to manage cost estimation, tender preparation, and commercial evaluation activities for construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, managing tender submissions, and providing strategic cost advice to support successful project bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and pricing schedules.
- Develop preliminary budgets, cost plans, and tender estimates for construction projects.
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Prepare tender submissions, commercial proposals, and cost breakdowns.
- Conduct market research for material prices, labor rates, and construction cost trends.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, procurement, and project teams during the tendering process.
- Identify potential risks, exclusions, assumptions, and cost-saving opportunities in bids.
- Review and evaluate tender clarifications, addendums, and client requirements.
- Assist in bid strategy development and commercial decision-making.
- Maintain cost databases and update pricing information regularly.
- Support post-tender negotiations and handover to project execution teams.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, contract requirements, and industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 8–12 years of experience in quantity surveying, with strong exposure to pre-contract and tendering activities.
- Proven experience in preparing tenders for residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
- Experience with BOQ preparation, rate analysis, and quantity take-offs.
- Familiarity with FIDIC and other standard construction contracts is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and quantity surveying/estimating software.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tender submissions.
