Civil Procurement Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Civil Procurement Engineer to manage the procurement of civil construction materials, equipment, and services. The role involves vendor sourcing, technical evaluation, quotation analysis, purchase coordination, cost control, and ensuring timely delivery of materials in line with project requirements and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle procurement activities for civil construction projects.
- Review project drawings, BOQs, specifications, and material requirements.
- Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs to suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Obtain and compare technical and commercial quotations.
- Prepare comparative statements and support commercial negotiations.
- Evaluate materials and products based on technical specifications, quality, cost, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with project, engineering, QA/QC, planning, and finance teams to finalize procurement requirements.
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure compliance with approved terms and conditions.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely manufacturing, dispatch, and delivery.
- Monitor material lead times and proactively address procurement delays.
- Verify supplier documentation, technical submittals, and material approvals.
- Coordinate inspection and quality requirements with the QA/QC team.
- Maintain procurement records, vendor databases, quotations, purchase orders, and delivery documentation.
- Monitor procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Support contract and subcontractor procurement for civil works where required.
- Resolve supplier-related issues concerning quality, quantity, delivery, and commercial terms.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, project specifications, and applicable standards.
- Prepare regular procurement status reports and update management on critical materials and pending orders.
Civil Materials / Procurement Scope
Experience in procurement of materials such as:
- Cement, concrete, and ready-mix concrete
- Reinforcement steel and structural steel
- Sand, aggregates, blocks, bricks, and masonry materials
- Waterproofing and construction chemicals
- Tiles, flooring, and finishing materials
- Pipes, fittings, and drainage materials
- Formwork and scaffolding materials
- Doors, windows, and other civil/architectural materials
- Construction equipment and related services
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in civil procurement, construction procurement, or project procurement.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction materials and specifications.
- Experience in vendor identification, quotation evaluation, negotiation, and purchase order management.
- Good understanding of BOQs, drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and ERP/procurement software.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of procurement procedures and documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement requirements and meet project deadlines.
- Strong vendor coordination and follow-up skills.
