A Project Engineer (Construction) supports the Project Manager by planning, coordinating, and monitoring engineering and construction activities to ensure the project is completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
Job Description – Project Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in planning and executing construction projects.
- Coordinate daily site activities with Site Engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Monitor project progress and ensure work follows the approved schedule.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure construction work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and local regulations.
- Monitor material requirements and coordinate procurement with the purchasing team.
- Verify work quantities and assist with progress billing and project documentation.
- Participate in site inspections and project meetings.
- Identify project risks and help implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Typically 3–8 years of experience in construction or project engineering.
- Experience with residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- UAE/GCC experience is often preferred for roles in the region.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and engineering principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with project planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and project management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Good understanding of quantity take-off and construction documentation.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks.
Typical Work Environment
- Splits time between the construction site and project office.
