Medical Maintenance Technician — Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Medical Maintenance Technician to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate medical and healthcare equipment. The successful candidate will help ensure that medical equipment operates safely, reliably, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications, healthcare standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair medical and healthcare equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to established schedules.
- Diagnose equipment faults and identify electrical, mechanical, electronic, and software-related issues.
- Conduct functional and safety checks on medical equipment before and after maintenance.
- Perform calibration and performance verification where qualified and authorized.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment servicing, repairs, inspections, and calibration.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to understand equipment problems and minimize disruption to patient care.
- Liaise with manufacturers and authorized service providers for specialized repairs, technical support, and warranty services.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new medical equipment.
- Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer recommendations and relevant safety standards.
- Inspect medical equipment for signs of wear, damage, or potential safety risks.
- Maintain an updated inventory of medical equipment, spare parts, tools, and maintenance records.
- Ensure appropriate storage and handling of tools, spare parts, and technical equipment.
- Follow electrical safety, infection-control, occupational health, and workplace safety procedures.
- Support equipment audits, inspections, risk assessments, and quality-assurance activities.
- Provide basic technical guidance to healthcare staff on the safe operation and care of equipment.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with hospital or healthcare facility policies.
- Perform other technical and maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Medical Equipment Technology, or a related technical field.
- Relevant technical certification or professional registration, where required.
- Previous experience in medical equipment maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of medical equipment safety and preventive maintenance practices.
- Manufacturer-specific training or certification is an advantage.
