EYFS Teacher
We are seeking a passionate, caring, and qualified EYFS Teacher to provide high-quality learning and development experiences for children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. The successful candidate will create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
The role involves planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities, monitoring children’s progress, maintaining effective communication with parents, and working closely with colleagues and other professionals to support each child’s individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Create a stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, exploration, and independence.
- Use play-based learning to support children’s language, communication, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Adapt teaching strategies and activities to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each child.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
- Provide opportunities for both child-initiated and adult-led activities.
- Promote inclusion and ensure all children have equal opportunities to participate and succeed.
Child Development & Assessment
- Observe, assess, and document children’s learning and developmental progress.
- Maintain accurate records, learning journals, and assessment documentation.
- Identify children who may require additional support and work with relevant professionals where appropriate.
- Use observations and assessments to inform future planning and individual learning goals.
- Monitor children’s wellbeing and raise concerns in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing
- Maintain a safe, secure, nurturing, and child-friendly environment.
- Follow all safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and welfare policies.
- Be alert to signs of abuse, neglect, developmental concerns, or changes in a child’s wellbeing and report concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Promote healthy habits, personal hygiene, emotional wellbeing, and positive relationships.
- Follow appropriate procedures for accidents, illness, first aid, and emergencies.
Parent & Family Engagement
- Build positive and professional relationships with parents and carers.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding children’s development, achievements, and areas for support.
- Participate in parent meetings, progress reviews, and school events.
- Provide appropriate guidance to parents regarding children’s learning and development.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
Classroom & Team Responsibilities
- Maintain a well-organized, welcoming, and stimulating classroom or learning environment.
- Ensure learning resources and equipment are safe, clean, accessible, and age-appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, nursery staff, SEN/SEND professionals, and school leadership.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and curriculum planning.
- Contribute to the wider life and activities of the school or early-years setting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Recognized qualification in Early Years Education, Early Childhood Studies, Education, or a related field.
- Relevant teaching qualification or EYFS teaching certification, as required by the applicable education regulations.
- Previous experience working with children in an EYFS, nursery, preschool, or early-years setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development and play-based learning.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- First Aid certification is desirable.
