Job Summary
The Teacher Assistant supports classroom teachers in providing a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment for young children. The role involves assisting with daily classroom activities, supporting children’s development, maintaining classroom organization, and ensuring the well-being of students in accordance with nursery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and conducting daily classroom activities.
- Support children’s learning, development, and participation in educational activities.
- Help supervise children during classroom activities, playtime, meals, and outdoor sessions.
- Provide care and assistance with children’s daily needs, including hygiene and personal care.
- Encourage positive behavior, social skills, and emotional development.
- Prepare learning materials, classroom resources, and activity setups.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Assist in monitoring children’s progress and reporting observations to the teacher.
- Support children with additional learning needs when required.
- Ensure children’s safety and follow nursery health and safety procedures.
- Assist during special events, activities, and school programs.
- Maintain positive communication with teachers, staff, and parents when required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Early Childhood Education, Childcare, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience working with young children in a nursery, preschool, or childcare setting is an advantage.
- Knowledge of child development and classroom support practices.
- Basic understanding of child safeguarding and safety procedures.
