Job Description – Instrumentation Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Instrumentation Engineer responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems. The engineer will ensure that all instruments and control systems operate safely, accurately, and reliably while meeting project and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for industrial applications.
- Prepare and review instrumentation drawings, datasheets, specifications, and technical documents.
- Select and specify appropriate instruments such as transmitters, control valves, switches, gauges, and sensors.
- Supervise installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation systems.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control-system faults and implement corrective actions.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance of instrumentation equipment.
- Develop and review Instrument Index, I/O lists, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Review P&IDs and ensure proper instrumentation requirements are incorporated.
- Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, process, civil, and automation engineering teams.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, consultants, and clients.
- Inspect installation work and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Support PLC, DCS, SCADA, and other industrial control-system activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures, engineering standards, and industry codes.
- Participate in loop checking, functional testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Maintain calibration records, maintenance reports, inspection documents, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- [0–X] years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control systems.
- Good knowledge of industrial instrumentation and measurement principles.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation drawings.
- Knowledge of calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning procedures.
- Familiarity with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and control systems.
- Knowledge of control valves, transmitters, sensors, analyzers, and field instruments.
- Good understanding of instrumentation safety and applicable industry standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
