Job Description – E&I Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced E&I Engineer to manage electrical and instrumentation engineering activities, including design, installation, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure electrical and instrumentation systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical
- Design, review, and supervise electrical systems and installations.
- Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment specifications.
- Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, motors, switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and distribution systems.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Monitor electrical maintenance activities and recommend system improvements.
Instrumentation & Control
- Design, review, and supervise instrumentation and control systems.
- Review P&IDs, instrument index, I/O lists, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and instrument datasheets.
- Select and specify field instruments, control valves, sensors, transmitters, and related equipment.
- Supervise instrument installation, calibration, testing, loop checking, and commissioning.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control-system issues.
- Coordinate activities involving PLC, DCS, SCADA, and other automation systems.
Project & Site Coordination
- Coordinate E&I activities with mechanical, civil, process, and other engineering disciplines.
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors and monitor work progress.
- Review technical submittals, material requirements, drawings, and vendor documentation.
- Conduct inspections and ensure work is completed according to approved standards.
- Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and shutdown activities.
- Prepare progress reports, inspection records, test reports, and other technical documentation.
- Support procurement and technical evaluation of E&I equipment and materials.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all E&I activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety procedures and regulations.
- Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and safety inspections.
- Ensure proper isolation, testing, and commissioning procedures are followed.
- Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
- [0–X] years of relevant E&I experience.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical equipment and process instrumentation.
- Familiarity with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of testing, commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of electrical and instrumentation safety practices.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
