Barista
Job Summary:
The Barista is a skilled professional responsible for crafting high-quality coffee and other beverages. This role requires a passion for coffee, precision, and speed. The Barista is expected to provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean and efficient workstation, and contribute to a positive and inviting atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Beverage Preparation:
- Expertly prepare and serve a wide range of coffee beverages (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.) to consistent quality standards.
- Follow recipes and presentation standards for both coffee and non-coffee drinks (teas, smoothies, etc.).
- Manage milk steaming and frothing to achieve perfect texture and temperature.
- Ensure all beverages are made quickly, accurately, and attractively.
- Customer Service & Sales:
- Greet customers, answer questions about the menu, and make recommendations.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to accurately process customer payments.
- Handle customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Station Management & Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked barista station at all times.
- Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of all coffee equipment (espresso machine, grinders, etc.).
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, syrups, milk, and other supplies, reporting low stock to a manager.
- Product Knowledge:
- Maintain extensive knowledge of coffee origins, brewing methods, and flavor profiles.
- Educate customers on different coffee offerings and promote new products or specials.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Barista in a specialty coffee shop or high-volume cafe.
- In-depth knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, beverage recipes, and espresso machine operation.
- Ability to work efficiently and consistently during peak hours.
- Strong customer service orientation and a friendly, engaging personality.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
