Commis Chef
Salary Range: AED 2,500 – 2,800
Job Summary:
The Commis Chef is an entry-level position designed for an aspiring culinarian to learn and grow within our kitchen brigade. You will assist the Chefs de Partie and Demi Chefs in their daily tasks, providing essential support to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in professional cookery, learn new techniques, and develop your skills in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Basic Preparation: Perform basic food preparation tasks as directed by senior chefs, including washing, peeling, cutting, and chopping ingredients.
- Mise en Place: Assist in the preparation of all required mise en place for the various kitchen sections to ensure readiness for service.
- Station Support: Work in different kitchen sections (e.g., veg, butchery, cold kitchen, pastry) as required, gaining broad experience.
- Maintenance & Cleaning: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all work areas, equipment, and utensils. Assist in cleaning walk-in refrigerators, storage areas, and other kitchen facilities.
- Learning & Development: Learn and adhere to standard recipes and portion controls. Observe and learn various cooking techniques from senior chefs.
- Compliance: Follow all company and kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards, especially those relating to health, safety, and hygiene.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A basic culinary certificate or diploma is preferred, but a strong passion for cooking and a willingness to learn is essential.
- No prior professional experience required, though any kitchen exposure is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn and develop a career in the culinary arts.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Physically able to stand for long periods and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
