Reports To: Laundry Supervisor / Executive Housekeeper
Job Purpose
To support the hotel's linen and uniform operations by washing, drying, ironing, and folding all items to the highest quality standards. The Laundry Attendant ensures a constant supply of clean, fresh, and well-presented linens for guest rooms and uniforms for staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Linen Processing:
- Sort all linens (sheets, pillowcases, towels, etc.) by type and color.
- Load and unload washing machines and dryers, following standard operating procedures for different fabrics.
- Operate laundry machinery, including washers, dryers, and ironers, safely and efficiently.
- Fold and stack cleaned linens neatly for distribution to housekeeping and other departments.
- Uniform Management:
- Wash, dry, and press staff uniforms as required.
- Sort and distribute clean uniforms to the appropriate departments or individuals.
- Inspect uniforms for damage or wear and tear, reporting items that need repair or replacement.
- Quality Control & Maintenance:
- Inspect all linens and uniforms for stains, damage, or tears, treating stains when possible and setting aside damaged items.
- Ensure all finished products meet the hotel's quality standards for cleanliness and presentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry area.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on laundry equipment, such as cleaning filters and reporting any mechanical issues to the supervisor.
- Inventory and Safety:
- Monitor and maintain par stock levels of clean linens.
- Handle and store all cleaning chemicals and detergents according to safety data sheets (SDS) and established safety protocols.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations to prevent accidents.
Qualifications & Experience
- No formal education required.
- Previous experience in a commercial laundry environment is an advantage but not essential. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Basic understanding of different fabrics and laundry chemicals is beneficial.
