Technical Office Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Reports To: Project Manager / Project Director
Job Purpose:
To act as the central technical hub of the project, managing all engineering documentation, design coordination, and technical submittals to ensure construction aligns perfectly with design intent and client specifications. This role bridges the gap between the design consultants, the site execution team, and the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire technical document lifecycle, including receipt, distribution, and archiving of all IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, specifications, and consultant correspondence.
- Prepare, review, and submit all method statements, shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs (Requests for Information) in a timely manner, tracking their approval status.
- Coordinate closely with design consultants to resolve technical discrepancies, obtain clarifications, and secure approvals for any design changes or variations.
- Lead the technical coordination between different disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP) to identify and resolve clashes before construction begins.
- Provide technical support to the site team, interpreting complex drawings and specifications to provide clear execution guidance.
- Prepare and update as-built drawings progressively throughout the project to reflect all site modifications.
- Assist the Quantity Surveyor in the technical evaluation of variations and claims.
- Manage the technical close-out process, ensuring all O&M manuals, warranties, and final as-built drawing sets are complete and delivered.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a Technical Office role within a main contracting company in the UAE, with proven experience on high-rise or large-scale building projects.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks (for clash detection), and MS Office Suite.
- In-depth knowledge of local authority regulations (Abu Dhabi Municipality, ADDC, Civil Defense) and international construction standards.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic is a significant advantage.
