Document Controller
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Reports To: Project Manager / Technical Office Engineer
Job Purpose:
To establish and maintain a rigorous document management system, controlling the flow, versioning, and archiving of all project correspondence, drawings, and submittals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage the project's electronic document management system (EDMS), such as Aconex, Asite, or a structured network drive.
- Register, log, distribute, and track all incoming and outgoing project correspondence, transmittals, drawings, and submittals.
- Ensure strict version control is applied to all documents; obsolete versions are archived.
- Prepare and issue formal transmittals for all document submissions to the client/consultant.
- Maintain up-to-date registers for drawings, RFIs, submittals, and correspondence.
- File all documents (hard and soft copy) in an organized, easily retrievable manner.
- Support the project team in locating documents quickly for meetings, audits, or reference.
- Prepare document status reports for project management.
- Manage the document close-out and handover process at project completion.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in any field. Certification in Document Control is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Document Controller in UAE construction, with experience on projects using Aconex or Asite.
- Excellent organizational skills and an exceptional eye for detail.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and EDMS platforms.
- Strong communication skills and a service-oriented attitude towards the project team.
