Sales Manager - Groups & Events
Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing / Director of Events
Job Summary:
The Sales Manager for Groups & Events focuses on generating business from corporate associations, SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, Fraternal) groups, and other organizations requiring meeting space and guest rooms. This role is pivotal in converting inquiries into definite bookings for conferences, seminars, banquets, and other events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospect, solicit, and negotiate with clients to book group room blocks and event space for conferences, meetings, and social events.
- Conduct site inspections and creatively present the hotel’s facilities and services.
- Develop comprehensive and competitive proposals detailing room rates, F&B minimums, venue rental, AV requirements, and other ancillary services.
- Hand off detailed contracts and group resumes to the Events/Catering team for seamless execution.
- Manage a quota and sales pipeline for both group rooms and associated event revenue.
- Build strong relationships with meeting planners, local corporations, and association executives.
- Stay current on market trends and competitor activity in the group segment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in hotel group sales or event sales.
- Proven ability to manage multiple clients and complex negotiations simultaneously.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in sales & catering software (e.g., Delphi.fdc, CI/TY) and CRM systems.
