Linux Support & Monitoring
Position Overview:
The Linux Support & Monitoring engineer ensures the ongoing health, performance, and availability of Linux-based systems through proactive monitoring, incident response, and operational support. This role serves as a key point of contact for Linux-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Linux servers and applications using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or SolarWinds.
- Respond to alerts, diagnose issues, and perform troubleshooting to resolve incidents.
- Perform routine maintenance: patching, updates, performance tuning, and log analysis.
- Provide Tier 2/3 Linux support, working closely with other IT teams.
- Implement and maintain monitoring thresholds, dashboards, and automated alerts.
- Document solutions, procedures, and configurations in a knowledge base.
- Assist in capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
- Support containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes) as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Linux administration and support experience.
- Proficiency with monitoring tools and alerting systems.
- Strong command-line skills and scripting ability (Bash, Python, Perl).
- Knowledge of networking, storage, and security in Linux environments.
- Certifications such as RHCSA, LFCS, or Linux+ are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
