Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Engineer with a proven track record in managing the planning and scheduling of major high-rise building projects in the UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring comprehensive project schedules, ensuring timely completion, and mitigating potential delays. This role requires expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 and close coordination with site and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed baseline and progress programs for high-rise construction projects using Primavera P6.
- Prepare and manage short-term look-ahead schedules, micro-schedules, and resource-loaded plans.
- Integrate sub-contractor schedules into the main project master schedule.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor and track project progress against the baseline schedule, identifying variances and critical path activities.
- Prepare and present clear, concise progress reports, dashboards, and S-curves for project stakeholders and management.
- Analyze productivity and performance metrics.
- Delay Analysis & Risk Management:
- Perform forensic schedule analysis to identify causes and impacts of delays (EOT claims).
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and propose recovery plans to keep the project on track.
- Maintain a project risk register and assess schedule impacts of potential risks.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Act as a central point of contact for all planning and scheduling matters.
- Liaise closely with site engineers, project managers, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure schedule alignment and resolve planning conflicts.
- Participate in project meetings, providing schedule updates and forecasts.
- Baseline Management:
- Prepare and obtain approval for project baseline schedules.
- Manage and document all schedule changes and revisions formally.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5-10 years of demonstrable experience as a Planning Engineer within the UAE/GCC region.
- Proven and specific experience in high-rise buildings/tower projects (50+ stories) from start to finish is mandatory.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 is a non-negotiable requirement.
- Advanced skills in MS Project, Excel, and other project management software.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequences, and MEP interfaces for high-rise structures.
- Professional Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of project controls, delay analysis techniques (Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis), and claims management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
