Job Title: Arabic Language Teacher

Job Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Arabic Teacher to join our team. The primary role is to teach Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and potentially local dialects to students, fostering an appreciation for the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Arab world. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using communicative teaching methods to develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You will tailor your instruction to meet the needs of both native and non-native Arabic speakers across different grade levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development & Instruction:
- Plan and deliver dynamic, student-centered lessons that align with the school's curriculum and national/world language standards.
- Teach Arabic language skills, including grammar, vocabulary, and conjugation, in a contextualized and engaging manner.
- Integrate aspects of Arabic culture (literature, history, art, music, current events) into lessons to deepen students' cultural understanding.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate students of varying proficiency levels, from beginners to heritage speakers.
- Utilize a variety of instructional technologies and resources, including textbooks, multimedia, and authentic materials.
- Assessment & Evaluation:
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress in all four language skills.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to students and maintain accurate records of their performance.
- Classroom Environment:
- Foster a supportive and encouraging classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable practicing a new language.
- Encourage active participation and communicative competence through pair work, group activities, and presentations.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborate with other world language teachers to ensure a cohesive and vertically-aligned curriculum.
- Maintain open and professional communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in school events, such as International Night or Culture Days, to promote the Arabic language and culture.
- Extracurricular & Professional Development:
- May lead or advise an Arabic language or culture club.
- Stay current with best practices in world language pedagogy by participating in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Studies, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- Native or near-native fluency in Arabic (both MSA and a spoken dialect) and English.
- Valid teaching certification (preferred).
- Proven experience teaching Arabic as a first and/or second language.
- Deep knowledge of Arab culture and the ability to convey it in an engaging way.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
