Assistant Accountant
Location: Kuwait
Salary: 220 – 250 KD
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to support the finance department with day-to-day accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is a fresh graduate or has up to 2 years of experience, with a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and excellent numerical skills. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring timely processing of transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Entry & Record Keeping: Accurately input financial transactions into the accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or ERP system). Maintain and update filing systems for invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable Support: Assist in processing supplier invoices and employee expense claims. Issue invoices to customers and follow up on payments as directed by senior staff.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations for assigned accounts to ensure all transactions are accounted for.
- Petty Cash Management: Manage and reconcile the petty cash fund, ensuring proper documentation for all disbursements.
- VAT/Tax Support: Assist in the preparation of supporting documents for VAT returns and other statutory requirements in Kuwait.
- Reporting: Prepare daily cash position reports and assist in the preparation of monthly financial summaries.
- Audit Assistance: Provide supporting documentation and schedules during internal and external audits.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
- 0–2 years of experience in a similar role; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); Arabic is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Transferable residency (Article 18) is preferred.
